Hints and Tips

1. My advice is to prepare thoroughly before you begin your Matched Betting journey. It will save you time and frustration in the long run.

  • Opening a seperate bank account just for your Matched Betting transactions. This might seem to be a time consuming pain, but once it's done, you'll be glad you took the time. It means you can track your deposits and withdrawals so much more easily without them being muddled in with your day to day personal banking. Also, if you ever want or need to present your statements to a prospective lender, it's not a good look to have them littered with bookmaker details.
  • Similarly, set up a seperate email address. As you progress, you will be contacted by the bookmakers you have set accounts up with, offering you various promotions and incentives. For the same reason as having a seperate bank account, these will be much easier to manage if they're not getting lost amongst your daily emails. You wouldn't want to miss a juicy promotion because you didn't see it, would you?!
  • Have your KYC (know your customer) documents prepped in advance. Bookmakers are legally obliged to verify your identity, age and residency. At some point (and before you make a withdrawal) you will be asked to provide this ID. If you have it downloaded to your device ready it will save you loads of time.

  • 2. Join the forums and watch all the “How To” videos on the site. Watch them at your own speed, and several times if needed. Matched Betting is not a race and it's better to take that extra time and be sure of your actions than to rush in headlong and make a mistake.

    3. When you feel ready to make your first bets, take your time. The early days are the learning days. Read and re-read the offers and be certain of what you've got to do before you place your bet. If you're unsure, ask. Remember that Matched Betting is risk free.

    Preparation includes

    4. Keep track of your progress and where all your money is. This will keep you motivated, and seeing your bank roll beginning to grow is very exciting.

    5. Don't compare your results with those of others. You will see some fantastic figures on Facebook and the help forums and it might make you feel you're not measuring up. Remember, everyone's journey is different and results depend upon several factors including time available, size of bank roll and experience. Those top earners were complete beginners once. If you focus on going through the offers methodically your bank roll will grow and you will get more efficient and so start to see better results

    6. If you do make a mistake, don't beat yourself up about it and don't let it finish your Matched Betting experience.. We've all done it. The trick is to learn from it, put it down to experience and move on. Your next success is waiting for you!
